Achille Caulier's Ospital d'Amours, a 15th-century French love poem, exists in 20 different manuscripts housed in libraries from Paris to Vienna. Like most medieval literary works, its text varies from manuscript to manuscript, with no version necessarily standing out as the most correct. In the Middle Ages, it was common for different versions of a text to exist side by side, and variation among texts was not perceived as a problem.
On this site, you may consult any of the twenty versions, or a collation of each stanza.
